TINYUMBRELLAS - ‘ZOMBIES’
Writer’s Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
When it comes to music, the city of Leeds has a thriving community of artists that are well on their way to making a name for themselves in the world of music. My latest artist discovery is of the Leeds-based indie dream-pop singer who goes by the alias of tinyumbrellas - an artist that will be sure to stop you in your tracks with their beautiful softly-sung vocals.
‘Zombies’ is the latest offering from their upcoming EP ‘Somewhere To Fall Asleep’ which releases on June 28th. The track is a beautiful soundscape that would be sure to fit into your summer playlists being a soft and fun feel good track which allows you to sink into the melody. The softly-sung vocals blend perfectly with the instrumentation, partnering with lyrics depicting childhood feelings of ‘are we just really close friends, or is this something more?’. The chorus of “It’s always been you and I - Fighting zombies way into the night - Never knowing what it truly means” will be one to get you skipping along through fields in the summers warmth.
DT had the following to say about the track: “‘Zombies’ tells the story of two childhood best friends who have grown up together and are each other’s favourite person. The narrator is questioning whether this relationship is a best friends to lovers story, while the other person is seemingly blissfully ignorant from the narrator's point of view.”
With a 5-day tour titled ‘Tiny Tour’ upcoming at the end of the month running through Bristol, Nottingham, Norwich, London and finally ending in Leeds - I highly suggest you go and catch this incredible artist.
