ROAN - ‘BY YOUR SIDE’

For those with their ear to the ground north of the border it’s very clear to see an incredibly exciting new wave of artists in the infancy of their respective careers. Be it the wonderful Vanderlye or the ongoing solo adventures of Pandas’ former drummer, Roan, the ground floor of the scene is packed up here.

‘by your side’ is another offering from Roan’s upcoming debut album as a solo artist and it once again shows the level of confidence he already feels as the star of the show. Pandas were already a band that exuded confidence in everything they did, be it their bold choice to cover ‘Filthy/Gorgeous’ by Scissor Sisters to the confidence felt throughout their own work, they were never short in that department and it seems that trait ran through the entire band. ‘by your side’ shows Roan’s levels as a musician once again with yet another earworm chorus and excellent guitar lines to compliment it.

Lyrically this is another phenomenal example of the sheer star power this man has in him. Beautiful, tender and clever in equal measures all throughout. Each line is memorable and the way this tune is written is masterful. It’s really a testament to his songwriting and shows just how ready he is to take over.

As we edge closer to the release of his debut album, this lovely little love song is more reason to be excited for the release of the project. From the beautiful, heartfelt lyrics to the sheer insane catchiness of the song this is one for the ages and is more than enough to add Roan to your own personal “Ones To Watch” lists. Personally I can’t wait for this record and you should feel the same.
