ATTIC‘O’MATIC - ‘THOUGHTLESS’

Enthralling five piece band Attic’O’Matic have released new single ‘Thoughtless’ as part of a compilation album from Small Pond Studios, ‘Small Pond Emerging Presents: Vol III’, which aims to showcase the best from Brighton’s music scene.

‘Thoughtless’ is an ever-changing track, subtly switching its musical style and rhythm throughout – perfectly drawing listeners in and making it irresistible to immediately put the song on repeat. Slowly opening to the strumming of acoustic guitars, the vocals almost sound haunting as the bass is swiftly introduced, masterly pulling the song together. There are clear elements of a range of genres which culminate into a perfect blend of folk and rock, especially as the track reaches its crescendo and the delicate outro slowly fades.

The song explores themes of existence, not realising what is already lost and how fast time is moving forward in the current uncomfortable state of society. It’s described by the band as “a cry for alternative routes to exist in our society”, which couldn’t come at a better time. The deeper meaning behind ‘Thoughtless’ adds a layer of severity and depth that enhances the track and gives the graceful instrumentals a forceful push, hitting the listener harder than before.

Attic’O’Matic showcase their talent with ease through the release of their intricate songs, and ‘Thoughtless’ aptly captures the group’s skill to weave each member’s skills into the perfect tracks. The band’s fresh takes on skillfully blending genres sets them apart from a lot of other independent musicians in the scene right now, making them one of the obvious ones to watch.
