INHALER - LONDON, UK.

Inhaler at the Pryzm Kingston, London, UK (07/06/2023).

Playing at the infamous Pryzm in Kingston, rock band Inhaler were hosted by local store Banquet Records to play two sold out shows in one day. After the highly anticipated release of their sophomore album, ‘Cuts and Bruises’, the band has been growing exponentially – especially after returning to open for Arctic Monkeys and playing for Harry Styles at the famous 90k capacity venue, Slane Castle, just a few days after these intimate Pryzm shows.

Both sets that night were full plays of ‘Cuts and Bruises’ to celebrate the new album – with no openers for either set, the second show of the night kicked off at 8pm as the band opened with one of the first singles, ‘These Are the Days’.  Of all the songs from their second album, this single is one of the best translated live – they’ve played it as an opening track throughout their UK and American tours this year, and it has proven its capability to get a crowd excited. They quickly rolled into one of their most experimental tracks, ‘The Things I Do’, an electronic song that builds to a chorus that their audience can easily dance to. ‘So Far So Good’ was played next,  an upbeat track with some great guitar lines in the final chorus and outro that are perfect for some minor moshing in the crowd.

Towards the middle of the set they played angsty album closer ‘Now You Got Me’, which features a strong bassline harmonising with a higher pitched sound throughout the track. Fan favourite song ‘Dublin in Ecstasy’ was also played – it had previously only been played live by the band from 2019, but officially released with this new album – you could tell the track was highly anticipated by the crowd.

Closing the set they played ‘If You’re Gonna Break My Heart’ – the slowest track on ‘Cuts and Bruises’ and latest single to be released as a single, which was a nice break from the energetic yet compact crowd. The band left the stage and returned for the encore consisting of album opener ‘Just to Keep You Satisfied’, a track that would definitely be described as another fan favourite and easily got the crowd excited again. The final song of the night was an older track ‘My Honest Face’, their most well-known track. The single features crashing drumbeats and impressive vocals, which makes it no wonder that they added it to the end of their set.

Inhaler have been growing since they first began putting out music – it started slowly but surely, but as of 2023 the attention they receive has catapulted them far into the mainstream. Every opportunity and bit of recognition they get is well deserved, and it’s impressive to see them play intimate club shows and announce an 8000 capacity arena show in their hometown (Dublin’s 3Arena) a few days later. These intimate shows were a great experience for fans before the band inevitably get even bigger.
