Bex: BEX!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SITTING DOWN WITH ME, I KNOW YOU’VE HAD A LONG DAY WITH THE PRINT PRESSING, DID YOU SEE ANY OR DO ANY UNIQUE AND INTERESTING DESIGNS?

Bex: I did about 100 to 150 t-shirts. It was two hours and in the end I had too much paint on my hand and just ended up pressing my hand on the t-shirt like “right, that is that”.

SOME PEOPLE HAVE A UNIQUE BEX HAND HAND-PRINTED SHIRT.

Bex: Don’t clone me!

YOU DO A LOT OF YOUR OWN MERCH!

Bex: This is handmade, I made it out of a pair of jeans! They were like tartan jeans, so it was like one pair of jeans and I cut it up. Then I made the skirt and I had more so I made the top, and then I made the necklace.

YOU’RE DOING INCREDIBLE WORK WITH YOUR DIY FASHION BRAND, DID FASHION AND MUSIC NATURALLY COME TOGETHER FOR YOU?

Bex: I think I always just pushed them together. I always did music and I always did music, I’ve been sewing since I was 10 and I’ve been playing guitar since I was 13, so they both started around the same time. I’ve always done them both and it never made sense to me to buy clothes, so I just made them.

ARE ALL YOUR CLOTHES SELF-MADE?

Bex: Pretty much! Unless they’re second hand like this jacket.

SINCE WE LAST CAUGHT UP YOU’VE PUT OUT AN ENTIRE EP, AND YOU’RE ONTO EP 2 NOW?

Bex: Yeah I think we’re going to release another EP next year, but for now we’re just doing singles and then.. Yeah.. just see where it goes.

WAS ONE OF THE SONGS THAT YOU PLAYED TODAY A LIVE DEBUT?

Bex: Yes! ‘Taste Better’ which will be coming out on Friday the 13th! The perfect day.

I’M EXPECTING A VERY COOL MUSIC VIDEO. SPEAKING OF MUSIC VIDEOS, DO YOU HAVE ANY COOL IDEAS FOR STUFF THAT YOU’VE GOT PLANNED COMING UP WITH FUTURE SINGLES OR IS THAT ALL UNDER WRAPS?

Bex: Honestly we do music videos so last minute. It gets to deadline day and I’m like “Okay we’re filming a music video”, and then whatever idea comes out comes out and we just do it. The song in a visual form.

I SAW YOU AT DOWNLOAD LAST YEAR AND YOU HAD YOUR PETITION, AND IT WORKED! YOU PLAYED DOWNLOAD THIS YEAR. WAS IT ACTUALLY THE PETITION THAT DID THAT?

Bex: I don’t know.. We’re going to say it was! Everyone got me there!

YOU HAD THE CUP TOWER AS WELL, CAN WE EXPECT ANY BEX SHENANIGANS?

Bex: I might go find some cups, but Trees charge you £1.50 per cup so no-one drops them. There’s no cups on the floor at the moment so I haven’t picked any up. The shenanigans just come out, they just happen, they're never planned. Just gotta let it happen.

YOUR NEWEST SINGLE ‘FIGHT’ IS GREAT TO LISTEN TO WHILST WORKING OUT OR DOING ANY LABOUR HEAVY TASK. WHERE DO YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULD BE LISTEN TO ‘FIGHT’?

Bex: They should be anywhere and everything, and if their boyfriend or girlfriend is ever horrible to them they should play the song like “yeah, that’s all I have to say”. Just about anywhere, I think it’s a good workout song. Like walking to school, walking to work.

WE’RE HAVING A CONTEST AT 2000 TREES AND I KNOW YOU LOVE A CONTEST. I WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY TREES YOU CAN NAME IN 15 SECOND.. 3.. 2.. 1.. GO!

Bex: That’s it! When I was in primary school all of my classes were called a different tree. So I was trying to remember them and then I was like “I.. I don’t know”. Oh a Willow tree!

FINALLY, WE KNOW 2000 TREES IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE WITH A DIVERSE AND AS AN ARTIST YOURSELF YOU LOVE VISUAL THINGS. I DECIDED TO MAKE 2000 TREES A MASCOT, AND I WANT THE ARTISTS TO NAME IT AND GIVE IT A CATCHPHRASE.

Bex: Jibby!

Bex: Ermm.. “Jibby like’s to rock, Jibby like’s to roll, Jibby is one with the Trees”.
